Description:
M7 class 30053 being turned at Swanage on the preserved line.
Built 1905 at Nine Elms. One of 105 to a design of Dugald Drummond for London and South Western Railway. Withdrawn from Bournemouth shed in 1964.
In 1967 30053 was sold to Steamtown in Vermont USA but brought back to the UK in 1987.
Weight 60 tons 4 cwt; 5 foot 7 inch driving wheels.
Tractive effort 19755 lb

The turntable was donated to the line by British Rail having served at Oak Common (Paddington) depot since 1953 but was in the path of the Crossrail Project.
The 26 tonne, 70 foot turntable was one of a handful left in BR service.
