Flew first mission of 128 on the 30th March 1944 and retired from Pakistan Air Force 1961.
Mk III ( 2091 built) powered by 4 x Bristol Hercules XVI radial engines , 1650 HP.
Flew on its missions from RAF Lissett , Yorkshire
Of 6178 total built this is a "replica" of the most illustrious Halifax ever built. The only advantage recognised by the crews over the Lancaster was you could get out quicker! 29% survival rate compared to Lancaster's 11%.
