Description:
UGANDA leaving Southampton on a educational school voyage in the 1970’s
Built 1952 by Barclay Curle for England–East Africa route until 1967 when converted to educational ship and the last ship to wear British India Steam Nav. funnel colours.
Served as hospital ship in Falkland Crisis and during the 113 days, 730 casualties were treated on board.
Destined to be broken up in 1986 she was driven ashore during typhoon “Wayne” and finally broken up in 1992.
Launched as Karatina. Renamed 1986 as Triton for voyage to breakers.
