Description:
BREMEN arriving Southampton in late 1960’s.
Built 1939 as Pasteur for Compagnie de Navigation Sud-Atlantique by Chantiers de l'Atlantique.
On outbreak of WWII laid up in Brest.On defeat of France taken over by British and used as troop transport.
1946 returned to owners but now used as troop transport in Vietnam War.Awarded Croix de Guerre.Never used as intended passenger ship for her owners.
1957 sold to Norddeutscher Lloyd and refitted at Bremer Vulkan with new boilers and turbines.
1965 bulbous bow added. 1971 sold to Chandris Group, renamed Regina Magna.
1977 sold and used as floating hotel to Philippine Singapore Ports Corporation of Saudi Arabia, renamed Saudiphil I.
1980 sold to Philsimport International as Filipinas Saudi I. Cut looose and rolled on to port side and sank on way to breakers under tow.
