Description:
High Speed Launch HSL 102 built at Hythe and capable of 35 knots for 500 miles passing Calshot 6/3/10.
The sole survivor of a 64 foot RAF Sea Recue Service design by Fred Cooper (also of Donald Campells’s Bluebird). When built in 1936 was the biggest / fastest powerboat in the world at 39 knots. Took part in Dunkirk, D-Day, and also saved 38 aircrew during 1941 Battle of Britain. Now part of the National Historic Ships Committee where she is part of The Core Collection alongside HMS Victory, Cutty Sark and Warrior
