Pascat= Partial Air Cushion Supported Catamaran. Funding from European Commission for development of Rhine /Danube low wash vessel of 2000 tonne payload, 20 kts, 1.5m draft.
This IMAA version built 2010 as a new landing craft development for the Royal Marines is twin hulled as per a catamaran but has skirts at bow and stern and air fans to lift the hull, similar to a hovercraft. The aim is to produce a faster craft able to beach and return to sea more easily.
