Description:
BPJ,(British Petroleum Jetty) Hamble, 30 Sept 2010.
The 53 acre terminal, purchased from the Admiralty, was initially set up in 1924 by its rival Shell.
BP joined the site in 1930 and the joint venture, Shell Mex & BP, was dissolved in 1976. Hamble remaining with BP and is able to handle tankers approx. 110,000 DWT. In 1990 Hamble, as the sole export site, took its first delivery of crude oil from Wych Farm, Dorset. Approx. £700 million in value of crude per year.
