NEREUS, an artificial reef

Nereus arrived in Caribbean sometime during the 1970s. After several owners and renamings in 2000 the ship was named the THOZINA out of Panama and was primarily traveling between Miami and Haiti.
Thozina became artificial reef when it was scuttled on 15 December 2002 at the Govenor’s Riverwalk Reef , Miami. The Thozina was the fourth drug-smuggling ship turned over to Palm Beach County by the U.S.Customs Service as part of a program designed to eliminate drug smuggling operations on the Miami River. The Thozina rests in 90 feet of water 1,5 miles south of the Lake Worth Inlet.
