Step 2; Clone Out the Rubbish

Select the Clone Tool from the toolbar on the left. This is the thing that looks like a rubber stamp and is highlighted here.

When this tool has been selected, it appears as a circle, seen here in the bottom right corner of the picture. Again, click on the picture for an enlarged image or on the link "Horizon 3" on the menu. In this picture, the clone tool is centred on the red horizontal guide line. That is not too significant, what is significant is the ruler on the left side. As you move the clone tool about, you will see a line moving up and down in sympathy with the cursor and this shows up on the ruler. This bit is quite important. In this case, I have chosen the 23" mark.

I am going to start cloning from the shore line and I want to get a bit of the shore, with a small portion of the sea, over on the left hand side and it must be level with the shore line on the right. Otherwise, we could have a ship climbing up a steep hill!

The Clone Tool works by selecting the area that you want to copy over and this is done by centering the cursor at a suitable point, holding the "Alt" key on your keyboard and clicking the left mouse key. So far so good. Now move the picture over so you are viewing the left hand side of the picture, bring the cursor over to the left and get it centred on the 23 " line. Right click the cursor and gently drag the mouse to the right, keeping it level as you move. Move it up and down a bit and you will see the shore start to appear, with some sea beneath and trees etc above. What is happening is the clone tool is copying what was at the start/select point with the stuff above and beneath the original starting point being copied in exactly the same relative position to the new area to the left.

Have a look at what it did....>>>>>....Next Page....>>>>>
